MARK RUMBOL FROM GLOUCESTERSHIRE JAILED AFTER SEXUAL ABUSE IN RUSTINGTON
A man from Gloucestershire, identified as Mark Rumbol, has been sentenced to prison following his involvement in a series of serious sexual offenses against a teenage girl in Rustington. The incident, which spanned over the course of 2020 and 2021, involved multiple acts of sexual assault committed by Rumbol, who was 58 years old at the time.
Rumbol, a scrap metal dealer from Hewelsfield in Wales, was reported to authorities in March 2021 after the victim disclosed the abuse.
The police responded swiftly, and Rumbol was taken into custody while specialized officers provided support to the young girl, ensuring her safety and well-being during the investigation.
Following his arrest, Rumbol faced a series of charges that included rape, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, although this last charge did not involve penetration.
The case was brought before Lewes Crown Court, where a detailed legal process ensued.
On December 18, the court delivered its verdict, finding Rumbol guilty of all charges except for rape, of which he was acquitted.
The court's decision reflected a thorough examination of the evidence presented during the trial.
Subsequently, on Friday, January 26, Rumbol was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
In addition to his incarceration, he was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
The court also imposed a restraining order and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, both aimed at significantly reducing his capacity to offend again and protecting the community from potential harm.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities in Gloucestershire and beyond to combat sexual offenses and ensure justice for victims.
The sentencing underscores the seriousness with which such crimes are treated and the commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
