MARK ROBERTSON FROM QUINTON ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEX WITH 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN WOLVERHAMPTON

In a case that has shocked the local community of Quinton and the wider Wolverhampton area, Mark Robertson, a 20-year-old disc jockey employed by The Wolf radio station based in Wolverhampton, was brought before Wolverhampton Crown Court to face serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor.

According to court records, Robertson engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl, an act that occurred just weeks after he had been cautioned by police for a similar offense involving another 14-year-old girl. This sequence of events has raised questions about Robertson's judgment and the effectiveness of the warnings he received.

During the hearing on Tuesday, November 13, Judge Michael Dudley addressed Robertson directly, stating, “You behaved extremely stupidly.” The judge emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting, “You are an adult and you had a duty to protect girls who are under age.”

While the judge acknowledged that the sexual activity was consensual, he expressed concern over Robertson’s repeated behavior, especially given that he had been cautioned in identical circumstances only a short time before. “This is all the more serious because you were cautioned in identical circumstances,” Judge Dudley remarked.

Despite the seriousness of the case, the judge recognized signs of maturity in Robertson and decided that a custodial sentence was not appropriate at this time. Instead, he opted for a sentence that would provide support and supervision, stating, “I think you, the girl, and society will be better served by a sentence that gives you some support and supervision. But do this again and you will go to prison.”

Robertson, who resides on Clay Drive in Quinton, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a girl under 16. As part of his sentence, he was handed a three-year community order and a three-year supervision order. Additionally, he was ordered to attend a sex offenders’ programme and to register as a sex offender for five years.

Representing Robertson, Miss Sarah Buckingham explained to the court that the young man found himself in the same problematic situation just two and a half months after receiving a police caution. She described his actions as “stupid” and emphasized that Robertson had only himself to blame for his predicament. Buckingham also clarified that Robertson was not someone who actively sought out young girls for manipulation or exploitation.

According to the court, the contact between Robertson and the 14-year-old girl began after they were introduced by a mutual friend. The defence argued that Robertson failed to properly assess the situation, which led to his poor decision-making.

In addition to the community orders, Robertson was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service. The court also mandated that he attend a sex offenders’ programme, and he was instructed to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.

This case has sparked considerable concern among residents of Quinton and Wolverhampton, highlighting the importance of vigilance and responsibility among young adults in positions of influence and trust.
