FORMER DOCTOR CHARGED OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON NEARLY 40 PATIENTS
2025-12-05 16:19: Nathaniel Spencer, 38, of Quinton, Birmingham, has been charged with 15 counts of sexual assault, 17 counts of assault by penetration and nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.Mr Spencer also faces three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, and one count of attempting to assault by penetration.
The charges follow an investigation by Staffordshire Police that focused on offences against 38 patients in Stoke-on-Trent and Dudley, between 2017 and 2021.
The force investigated allegations at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley.
Mr Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 20 January 2026.
The CPS stated the decision to prosecute followed a detailed and complex investigation.
Mr Spencer has been suspended from medical practice in the UK pending the outcome.
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust has set up a helpline for concerns regarding care at Russells Hall Hospital.
Dr Paul Hudson, the trust's operational medical director, said many will find this distressing.
The trust indicated Mr Spencer was a former resident doctor during a placement from August 2020 to April 2021.

Our prosecutors have extensively examined the evidence in cooperation with Staffordshire Police, ensuring there is enough to bring the case to trial and that pursuing criminal proceedings aligns with public interest.' A resident of Birmingham, Spencer is scheduled to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on January 20, 2026.
