MARK COLE SENTENCED TO 22 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD RAPE IN AYLESBURY
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Aylesbury, a man identified as Mark Cole has been handed down a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple heinous sexual offences involving a minor. The sentencing took place at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, November 1, and marks a severe legal response to a series of disturbing crimes committed over several years.Mark Cole, aged 56 and described as having no fixed abode, was found guilty in August of a total of 17 sexual offences that spanned from 2006 to 2012. These offences were committed against a single victim and included some of the most serious crimes under the sexual offences legislation. The court heard detailed accounts of Cole’s actions, which involved both assault and rape of a child under the age of 13.
The charges against Cole included one count of sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, and two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The most severe charges were three counts of rape of a child under 13, along with five counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, one count of assault by penetration, and two counts of attempted assault by penetration. These offences paint a disturbing picture of repeated abuse over a period of years.
The court’s decision to impose a 22-year prison sentence reflects the gravity of Cole’s crimes. Additionally, he was sentenced to serve a further eight years on licence, meaning he will be under supervision after his release for an extended period.
