NORTHUMBERLAND SEX OFFENDER JAILED AFTER ONLINE CHATS WITH 'SCHOOLGIRL'
A convicted sex offender has been returned to prison after attempting to engage in online sexual chats with a profile pretending to be a 14-year-old girl, which was actually a law enforcement officer.
Alfred Liddle, aged 31, from Ashington, had previously served time for rape and attempting to meet a child for sexual activity.
During the recent incident, Liddle was found to have been communicating persistently, discussing sexual activities, requesting images, and sending explicit pictures including a penis image.
He pleaded guilty to attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempted sexual communication with a child, possession of indecent images of a child, and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
He was sentenced to five years and three months in prison, with a further two years and nine months extended licence period.
Liddle is also on the sex offenders register for life.
The court heard he has five prior convictions for sex offences, including raping a woman on their first date after meeting online, and attempting to meet a girl for sex following grooming attempts.
His defense stated he was in a self-destructive phase, homeless, and diagnosed with ADHD, with little evidence he intended to meet the decoy.
Judge Penny Moreland emphasized his persistent sexual communications and incitement, highlighting his history of sexual offences.
