MARK ALLSOP FROM RADFORD SENTENCED FOR INTERNET BREACH AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

In September 2020, a serious case emerged involving Mark Allsop, a resident of Radford, who was found to have violated a court-imposed restriction related to his internet usage. Despite being explicitly banned from accessing the internet under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, Allsop was caught engaging in illegal activities online, leading to his subsequent arrest and conviction.

Authorities executed a warrant at Allsop's residence in Radford, Grafton Court, on December 11, 2019. During the operation, officers discovered that Allsop had his laptop turned on and was actively connected to YouTube, situated next to his bed. This was a clear violation of the court order, which prohibited him from using any computer or device capable of internet access unless he notified the police within three days of acquiring such devices. The officers seized the laptop and found it contained multiple videos and images classified as indecent photographs of children, spanning categories A, B, and C, with Category A representing the most severe form of child exploitation material.

Further investigation revealed that Allsop had been downloading these illicit images during incidents in September and October 2019. The charges against him included three counts of breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order and making indecent images of children. The evidence indicated that he had deliberately circumvented restrictions designed to prevent him from accessing such material.

Allsop, aged 58, pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court. He received a prison term of two years and seven months for his offenses. The case highlighted his ongoing history of sexual offenses, which dates back to his previous convictions. On January 12, 2007, he was convicted of multiple serious crimes, including the rape of a girl under 13, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a minor, inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual acts, and possessing indecent images of children. His sentence at that time was three and a half years, and he was required to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

In addition to his 2007 convictions, Allsop was subject to a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order issued on September 12, 2013, by Nottingham Magistrates’ Court. Authorities also imposed a Foreign Travel Order due to concerns about his visits to Thailand and potential interactions with children abroad. Further criminal activity was recorded on February 26, 2018, when he was convicted of making indecent images of children. For this, he received a 12-month prison sentence and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which remains in effect until February 25, 2028.

Overall, the case underscores the ongoing risks posed by individuals with a history of sexual offenses, especially those who breach court orders designed to protect children and the public from further harm.
