TURRIFF PENSIONER AVOIDS PRISON AFTER CHILD ABUSE IMAGES FOUND
A pensioner from Turriff, Marek Rosiak, has avoided jail after being found guilty of possessing and sharing indecent images of children.
He was caught after the National Child Abuse Inquiry received intelligence indicating that indecent images had been uploaded from his address.
Police executed a search warrant and seized a tablet from his home, which contained over 100 indecent images and videos of children, including some that were classified as category A, the most severe category.
The content also included videos with a total duration of over an hour and a half, along with a chat thread on the app Telegram containing these images.
In addition to child images, some content involving animals and sadistic sexual activity was discovered.
Rosiak, aged 74, admitted to taking, permitting to be taken, or making such images, as well as possessing them.
Despite the gravity of the offences, he received a community payback order with supervision for two years, a £500 fine, and was placed on the sex offenders register for five years.
The court acknowledged the serious nature of the crimes but chose a non-custodial sentence, considering Rosiak’s low risk of reoffending and his claim that he no longer accesses such content.
