MANISH GUPTA FROM WALTHAM FOREST CAUGHT WITH DISTURBING CHILD AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY AT WHIPPS CROSS HOSPITAL
In October 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Dr.Manish Gupta, a gynaecologist and obstetrician who was employed at Whipps Cross Hospital.
The case drew significant attention due to the nature of the illegal material found on his devices and his professional standing within the medical community.
Dr.
Gupta, aged 47 and residing in Waltham Forest, pleaded guilty to possessing a total of 14 prohibited images depicting children engaged in sexual acts.
These images were classified as illegal under the law due to their explicit and exploitative content.
In addition to these images, authorities discovered one video and two photographs that depicted extreme pornographic violence, which is also prohibited by law.
Furthermore, investigators found a film featuring bestiality, adding to the severity of the material found on his devices.
The investigation also uncovered photographs showing violent acts against women, raising concerns about the nature of his interests and the potential risk he posed.
Notably, Gupta was involved in the professional field of obstetrics and gynaecology, and he had contributed to the development of official guidelines on caring for victims of female genital mutilation, serving as co-chairman of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Melissa Garner, representing the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), stated, “Manish Gupta had a number of disturbing pornographic images on his laptops.
These included 14 prohibited images of children and violent acts against women.
Some of these were found on a laptop used for work after it was seized by police following a referral from the NSPCC.” She emphasized the legal implications, saying, “Possessing prohibited and extreme pornographic images is against the law and where there is evidence to do so, the CPS will prosecute those who break the law.” Gupta appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, October 19, where he pleaded guilty to the charges.
His sentencing is scheduled for November 16, and the case continues to be closely watched given the serious nature of the offences and his professional background.
