LANCASTER MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND BURGLARY
A man named Mamun Ahmed, aged 33, broke into a property in Lancaster in October and committed a serious sexual assault. He entered the house by climbing through a window, stole a mobile phone from the victim’s living room, and then entered her bedroom while she was asleep.
The victim confronted him, leading Ahmed to run away, but not before he had a physical altercation with her flatmate, during which he was injured.
Evidence collected from the scene, including his blood, helped authorities identify him.
Lancashire Police confirmed that Ahmed was arrested while wearing the same jumper he had on during the incident.
During his arrest, officers recovered the jumper from him.
Ahmed admitted guilt to charges of sexual assault and burglary, and he was sentenced to four years and four months in prison at Preston Crown Court.
The police described him as a dangerous individual clearly intent on committing his crime.
Detective Sergeant Chris Hammond remarked on the case, stating, “Ahmed is a dangerous person who was determined to carry out his sordid crime,” and he also expressed sympathy for the victim, saying, “I can only imagine how frightened she was when she awoke to find a stranger sexually assaulting her in her bed.”
