LANCASTER MAN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE AFTER BREAK-IN AND ASSAULT
Aiden Moore, 23, of Morley Road, Lancaster, managed to infiltrate a woman's home around 6:45 pm on December 5 of the previous year while she waited for her dog to come in from the garden.Moore immediately seized the woman, who was in her 60s, and forcibly forced her into the shower during what has been described as an 'extremely distressing' attack.
During the assault, Moore told the victim he loved her and forced himself on her as she pleaded with him to stop.
He also boasted about the expense of his Canada Goose jacket he was wearing at the time.
Subsequently, Moore coerced the woman into her living room where he attempted to rape her multiple times, despite her repeated pleas for him to desist.
Moore left the scene leaving behind his mobile phone and underwear.
Police apprehended him shortly afterwards based on the victim’s description, which included his poor dental condition, and the fact that he was still in possession of the Canada Goose jacket.
Moore pleaded guilty to attempted rape, sexual assault, and trespassing.
On July 6, at Preston Crown Court, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison with an additional five-year extended license period after being designated a dangerous offender.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Detective Constable Rachel Crossley of West CID stated, ‘This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim and I would like to praise her for the bravery she has displayed throughout the case.
Hopefully, the significant sentence imposed on Moore will give her some peace of mind.
Even after Moore is eventually released from prison he will continue to be monitored.
I would also like to praise the professionalism of my colleagues at Lancashire Police and those at the Crown Prosecution Service for enabling us to get this significant sentence and protect the public from this dangerous sexual predator.
I hope this case will give other victims of sexual offending the confidence to come forward, knowing that we will listen to them and act on the information they provide.’
