SERIAL RAPIST ATTACKED VULNERABLE MAN IN HIS BEDROOM AFTER BECOMING 'FRIENDS' WITH HIM
A 'highly dangerous' rapist who attacked a vulnerable man in his bedroom in Lancaster has been handed a 14-year sentence.Andrew Morris, 63, moved to Lancaster after being released from prison in 2017 following a sentence for raping another man after a night out drinking in Nottingham.
He also has a previous conviction for raping a five-year-old girl in the 1990s, Preston Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor David Traynor stated that in March 2025, Morris’s most recent victim told a support worker he had been touched on the bottom by Morris.
The police questioned the victim further about Morris's behaviour.
During the interview, the victim—who has complex mental health needs—said Morris had asked him if he was gay or straight; he replied he liked women.
However, two or three weeks earlier, Morris had entered his room uninvited and had sex with him without his consent.
The next day, the victim said Morris attempted to kiss him when he had been drinking.
He expressed being 'really fed up with it.' In a victim statement, he stated that he was extremely upset by the rape, and he moved to a different area to escape the memories.
He said, "I have no sexual attraction to males.
I thought he was being friendly and I don't make friends with anyone.
I feel more isolated now.
He knows I have learning difficulties and he took advantage." He also struggles to sleep and feels ashamed and embarrassed about telling some family members.
Morris pleaded guilty to rape and two counts of sexual assault of this victim.
Defence lawyer Niamh Ingham mentioned that Morris has a 'complex background' exacerbated by heavy alcohol and cannabis use, but she noted he understands his wrongdoings.
Judge Robert Altham from Preston said: "It is notable that you have targeted a vulnerable victim before when you committed the rape of an adult male and a five-year-old child.
You appear to take no real responsibility for your offending, minimising or refusing to engage.
You are at high risk of causing serious harm." He sentenced Morris to eight years in custody with a six-year extended licence period.
Additionally, he received 10 and 13 months sentences for the sexual offences, to run concurrently.
