EXETER NIGHT SHIFT WORKER MALCOLM ESTILL SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR RAPE OF YOUNG SCHOOLGIRL
In a case that has shocked the community of Exeter, Malcolm Estill, a night shift worker from the Whipton area, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for the heinous crime of raping a young schoolgirl.The disturbing details of the case emerged during a court hearing at Exeter Crown Court, revealing a pattern of abuse that spanned several months.
According to court records, Estill, aged 35, began his illicit relationship with the girl when she was just under 13 years old.
The abuse started during the period when he was working night shifts, which allowed him to spend time with the girl during daylight hours.
Over time, Estill manipulated and persuaded her into engaging in a series of sexual acts, which gradually escalated in severity.
The situation reached a climax when he had full sexual intercourse with the girl, an act that was ultimately uncovered after she confided in her teachers about her ordeal.
The court was told that the abuse began with inappropriate physical contact, including cuddling and touching, during which Estill convinced the girl to undress to her underwear and even wear a thong.
As the abuse continued, it became more invasive, culminating in full sexual intercourse.
The girl’s disclosures at school prompted her teachers to alert authorities, leading to Estill’s arrest.
During police interviews, Estill reportedly expressed remorse, stating that he was grateful to have been caught and apologized for his actions.
Prosecutor Mr.
Richard Crabb detailed the gravity of the offences, emphasizing that the abuse started when the girl was only 12 years old and persisted until she revealed the truth.
The court heard that Estill had admitted to seven counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual activity with a child.
Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, delivered the sentence, condemning Estill’s actions and emphasizing the severity of his crimes.
The judge ordered Estill to remain on the sex offenders’ register for life and imposed an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which will restrict his access to children without supervision.
