EXETER MAN JAILED FOR VAPE SHOP SEXUAL ASSAULT
A vape shop owner who sexually assaulted a teenager has been jailed.
Janpal Singh, 27, from High Street, Exeter, was convicted of sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl.
He was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison at Plymouth Crown Court on Thursday, April 23, and received a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order along with being ordered to sign the National Sex Offender Register.
The court heard that Singh owned a phone repair and vape shop called ‘Fone Fix’ on Victoria Street.
The incident happened in 2023, with the victim being just 13 years old.
She had been in Singh’s shop and attempted to take a vape without paying.
Singh detained her, pushed her behind the counter, and subjected her to a sexual assault.
She managed to flee and reported the incident.
Detective Constable Rachael Delaney praised the victim’s courage and expressed hope that the outcome encourages others to report sexual abuse, emphasizing that survivors are protected by law and have lifelong anonymity.
