MAN JAILED FOR STABBING ELDERLY BIRMINGHAM GRANDMA IN BRUTAL ATTACK
Madni Ahmed, aged 20 and residing on Cavendish Street in Stoke-on-Trent, was found guilty of a violent crime involving the murder of an 86-year-old woman, Riasat Bi, and an attempt to kill her grandson. The incident took place inside her residence in Birmingham during July, where Ahmed stabbed Mrs.
Bi 15 times and inflicted over 25 injuries, which police described as a horrifying and brutal assault.
West Midlands Police reported that Mrs.
Bi was left critically injured, and her grandson sustained injuries that will significantly affect him for the rest of his life.
Ahmed explained that he was searching for someone inside the house and, failing to find who he was looking for, proceeded to attack the grandson.
Following the assault, Ahmed refused to leave the scene, resulting in a struggle during which he suffered a slash wound to his arm.
He then escaped through the attic window, leaving his knife behind in the roof gutter.
Subsequent investigations revealed blood belonging to him on fence panels in a neighbor’s garden; he had re-entered the house to retrieve a knife from the kitchen.
Police apprehended him at a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent after tracking his phone.
The judge at Birmingham Crown Court sentenced Ahmed to a life term with a minimum of 36 years, citing the deliberate nature and severity of his attack.
Detective Inspector Harry Harrison described the incident, stating, "This was a premeditated assault, with Ahmed intending to cause harm or kill during his visit to the elderly lady's home." The case underscored the gravity of the offense against a vulnerable victim and the seriousness with which the crime was regarded.
