ABERDEEN MAN JAILED AND BANNED FOR ASSAULTING EX AND FLEEING POLICE
A man named Maciej Was, aged 27, was involved in a serious assault incident at his estranged partner's flat in Tillydrone, Aberdeen. The incident occurred late at night when Was entered the woman's home without permission to discuss a legal case, despite being under a bail order to stay away from her. He then assaulted her, striking her with a shoe and grabbing her by the hair, prompting her neighbour to intervene and assist her. During the altercation, Was also stole her blue shoulder bag, which contained her purse and passport. When police officers arrived, Was resisted arrest by kicking and attempting to bite officers, and he spat at one. He pleaded guilty to three counts of assault, theft, and breaching bail conditions. The court ordered him to be under a community payback order with supervision and 120 hours of unpaid work, in addition to a three-year non-harassment order to stay away from his former partner. He has been in remand since October 26 the previous year, which equates to nearly a 12-month sentence, but the sheriff decided on a community-based sentence instead of jail due to the time already served and the circumstances of the case.
