KEIGHLEY TEACHER LYNNE RODGERS JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING 13-YEAR-OLD BOY IN THE 1990S
In a case that has shocked the community of Keighley, Lynne Rodgers, a former drama teacher, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activities with a 13-year-old boy during the 1990s.The incident, which took place over two decades ago, has resurfaced due to the courage of the victim, who finally came forward to report the abuse.
Rodgers, who was 30 years old at the time, was accused of initiating inappropriate sexual contact with the young boy.
According to court records, she engaged in sexual acts with him inside her vehicle, and later invited him to her home, where she attempted to persuade him to have sex with her on her sofa.
These actions occurred while she was employed as a drama teacher in Keighley, a town in West Yorkshire.
Rodgers, residing on Braithwaite Edge Road in Keighley, admitted to charges of gross indecency with a child and indecent assault.
As part of her sentencing, she will be required to register as a sex offender, a measure that underscores the severity of her crimes.
Concerns about her inappropriate relationship with the young boy had been raised in the 1990s, prompting her to leave her teaching position at the Keighley school.
