OFFENDER JAILED FOR MANIPULATING TEENAGER VIA FAKE INSTAGRAM PROFILE AND SHARING INDECENT IMAGES
A pervert who used a fake Instagram profile to blackmail a schoolgirl into sending him nudes has been jailed for 27 months.Luke McGuire, 29, sent sexual photos of the teenager to a school friend as he ramped up the pressure on her to send more graphic images.
The youngster, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, sent McGuire a video of herself.
"From that point you had her in a knot," said Recorder Michael Maher, sentencing.
McGuire "badgered" the 14-year-old to send naked images, threatening to share the video with her friends if she did not comply.
He said: "Everyone our age does it babe." He told the girl his account was fake and could not be traced.
The youngster told him: "You abuse people and that is a crime," he responded with laughing emojis and found her objections "tiresome." Recorder Maher said: "In my judgement that is the most aggravating feature of these offences.
"You found her objections tiresome and became increasingly agitated.
You threatened to distribute the photos to people in the school if she did not comply.
"Thankfully she had the strength of character to put a stop to this and tell her mum.
"Some victims are not so resilient and can succumb to self harm or worse because of the profound embarrassment and shame they feel in these circumstances.
"It was against that background she provided you with images of her naked body and genitalia because you made demands by menaces of increasingly sexual images of her," Recorder Maher said.
