HORDEN MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THREATENING TO POUR AMMONIA OVER PARTNER
A young man from Horden, Luke Curley, aged 22, has been convicted of multiple domestic violence offences.
The Durham Crown Court heard that after a time of peaceful coexistence, Curley began to display violent and threatening behavior towards his partner.
He assaulted her by pushing a pillow over her face until she turned purple, which caused her to panic as she suffers from asthma.
His violent actions also included causing bruising and a black eye during a September incident.
Curley made threats to burn down his partner's sister's house and to pour ammonia over his partner's face.
Following his arrest, Curley was remanded in custody and later pleaded guilty to charges including assault causing actual bodily harm, intentional suffocation, intimidation, and property damage.
In court, it was emphasized that he has a history of battery on family members and property damage.
The judge sentenced him to 42 months in prison and issued restraining orders preventing contact with his victim and her sister for an indefinite period.
