LOUISE TUCKER'S BLACKPOOL HORROR: ANIMAL ABUSE AND NEGLECT REVEALED
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Blackpool, Louise Tucker, born 27 July 1981, was found guilty of severe animal neglect and cruelty at her residence on 13 Butler Street.The investigation uncovered a deplorable living environment where she kept a total of 11 animals, including dogs and cats, in conditions that were both filthy and hazardous to their health.
On June 30, 2022, RSPCA inspectors responded to reports of animal suffering at Tucker’s property.
Upon arrival, they discovered two female cats and nine adult dogs living amidst squalor.
The house was described as a 'house of horrors,' with floors covered in animal feces, making it impossible for the inspectors to move freely without stepping in the mess.
The interior was dark and oppressive, with curtains drawn tightly and newspapers taped across the windows, further contributing to the bleak environment.
Inspector Will Lamping, who was present during the inspection, detailed the conditions in his witness statement.
He noted that the entire room was soiled with feces, including the crates, sofa, and chairs, leaving no clean space for the animals to rest.
The overpowering smell of ammonia was so intense that breathing became difficult, forcing the inspector to take frequent breaks outside.
The animals’ only apparent food and water sources were trays of dog biscuits and red plastic tubs filled with water, which were placed directly next to their own excrement, indicating neglect and a lack of proper care.
Inside the room, two crates were found—one without bedding and the other containing a filthy blanket.
The environment also posed physical hazards, with sharp-edged tin cans scattered around, increasing the risk of injury to the animals.
Mobile phone screenshots revealed that Tucker was also involved in selling puppies, with a Chihuahua cross advertised for £450, suggesting a commercial aspect to her activities.
Following the discovery, all 11 animals were seized by police and taken into the care of the RSPCA.
A veterinary examination confirmed that the animals were suffering from health issues, including mild conjunctivitis likely caused by the ammonia-rich environment.
Bentley, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, was found to have a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament in his right leg and an untreated anal mass that required further investigation.
The vet concluded that Tucker had failed to meet the basic needs of her animals by providing a suitable environment, and Bentley had endured unnecessary pain for at least a week due to her neglect.
Initially, Louise Tucker denied causing unnecessary suffering and neglecting her animals’ welfare.
However, during a two-day trial in July 2023, she changed her plea to guilty.
The court was told she had come “very close to imprisonment,” highlighting the severity of her actions.
In her defense, it was argued that she had taken responsibility for others’ mistakes and had previously rehomed dogs from owners who were not caring for them properly.
She was also described as being kind to animals and having maintained a clean house before these offences occurred.
Sentencing included a 10-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, along with 15 days of rehabilitation activities.
She was ordered to pay costs of £400 and was banned from keeping any animals for five years, a restriction that will last until September 2028.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of neglect in Blackpool.
