LOUISE BARCLAY FROM PERTH SHUT TREMBLING DOG OUT IN FREEZING CONDITIONS IN PERTHSHIRE

In a distressing incident that took place in Perth, Louise Barclay, a woman aged 54, was involved in an act of neglect that has now led to her being banned from keeping animals. The incident occurred on October 22, 2023, in the residential area of Murray Place, Stanley, where Barclay was seen to have deliberately left her ex-partner's dog, Flame, outside her home in extremely cold weather conditions.

According to reports, neighbors witnessed Barclay closing the front door on Flame after he had been scratching and whining, desperately trying to get back inside. The dog, visibly trembling from the cold, was left outside in the front garden, with no apparent provision made for his welfare. Witnesses described the scene as heartbreaking, with the animal clearly distressed and seeking shelter.

During the court proceedings at Perth Sheriff Court, Barclay admitted to the charge of leaving Flame unattended without adequate care. The court heard that earlier in the day, she had attempted to visit an inmate at Perth Prison but was turned away because she was reportedly too intoxicated at the time. This detail was brought up by Fiscal depute Bill Kermode, who explained that later that evening, at approximately 10:35 pm, Barclay expelled the dog from her property into the front garden and then closed the door, effectively abandoning him in the cold.

Barclay’s actions have been widely condemned, and the court has responded by imposing a ban on her from keeping animals in the future. The case highlights ongoing concerns about animal welfare and the responsibilities of pet owners, especially during harsh weather conditions.
