LLOYD DAVIES OF LLANDYBIE SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR SERIOUS SEXUAL OFFENCES IN CARMARTHENSHIRE

Lloyd Davies, aged 29, from Llandybie in Carmarthenshire, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving two young girls. The court heard that Davies engaged in a series of sexual abuses, including three counts of raping a child under 13, two counts of inducing or encouraging a child to engage in sexual activity, one count of sexual assault against a child under 13, and one count of creating indecent images of a child. The allegations first emerged when Davies raped one girl while they were playing the computer game Minecraft. The court noted that both victims' accounts, supported by evidence from digital devices, were instrumental in securing the convictions. After his arrest, a second victim came forward to report abuse. Victims’ impact statements revealed the profound emotional harm they endured. One victim stated, “From day one I knew it was not right. It was like a sinking feeling. The first time Lloyd did what he did I felt guilty. I just wanted it all to stop and for it all to be a nightmare. I harm myself as a coping mechanism. My life has not been mine to live because he has taken away so much from me. What Lloyd has done to me changed me as a person. I can't even look in the mirror. I blamed myself for everything that has happened for a long time.” The second victim shared, “When this first happened I did not know how to feel. I was made to feel that what he did was normal. The things he would do to me made me feel really uncomfortable. He took something from me that I will never get back.” In mitigation, Davies’ defense argued that he was a young man with social anxiety and limited relationships, mainly with his parents, and that he had demonstrated good engagement with prison authorities. The judge highlighted the lifelong impact of sexual abuse, imposing two indefinite restraining orders to prevent contact with the victims, and ordered lifelong registration on the Sex Offenders’ Register. Davies was sentenced to a total of 13 years, with an additional extended one-year period for dangerousness. Detective Sergeant Carl Pocock emphasized that it is never too late to speak out, urging victims to come forward irrespective of the time elapsed, assuring them that justice can still be achieved. The police investigation was led by Detective Constable Katie Rees, who supported the victims throughout the process. The victims expressed their gratitude to the police and encouraged others to seek help, stressing the importance of speaking out about abuse to ensure justice and community safety.
