LLIAM MARTIN FROM OBAN CAUGHT WITH OVER 750,000 CHILD PORNOGRAPHY FILES IN SHOCKING SCOTLAND CASE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Oban and the wider Highlands region, Lliam Martin has been found in possession of an enormous and disturbing collection of child pornography. The police investigation revealed that Martin, a resident of Oban, was in possession of over 750,000 files containing explicit material involving minors. This staggering number includes approximately 168,800 still images and 40 videos, which were discovered on multiple devices, including SD cards, a MacBook, and a desktop computer unit.Law enforcement officials worked tirelessly for eight months to categorize and analyze the vast collection of images. Despite their efforts, the sheer volume of material proved overwhelming, leaving nearly 600,000 images unexamined and suspected to be indecent photographs of children. The investigation was initiated following intelligence received in June, which led to a police raid on Martin’s residence in Oban.
During the raid, officers found Martin in his bed and seized five SD cards. He admitted that the files contained “porn of all ages,” and the names of some files indicated they depicted children in various states of undress, including minors and infants. The court was informed that some images showed babies, while others involved older children, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material.
Martin faced charges of possessing indecent images of children, with the court hearing that the offenses spanned from November 2008 to June of the previous year. He pleaded guilty to the charges, acknowledging his possession of the illicit material. The sheriff deferred sentencing until May 23 to allow for a comprehensive background report. The judge warned Martin that “all sentencing options are open,” and indicated that a custodial sentence was likely. Additionally, Martin was placed on the sex offenders register as part of the court’s ruling.
Reactions from the public and various charities have been overwhelmingly condemnatory, emphasizing the heinous nature of the crime and the profound harm inflicted on victims involved in the creation of such material. The case has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for justice and increased efforts to combat child exploitation and abuse in Scotland.
