LIAM PERKINS CAUGHT IN GARSTON: HORRIFIC CHILD PORN AND VIOLENCE AT ST HELENS HOME

In July 2021, a disturbing incident unfolded involving Liam Perkins, a man from Garston, who became the subject of a serious criminal investigation due to his involvement in child exploitation and violent behavior. The case highlights a series of alarming events that took place in and around his family’s residence in St Helens, revealing a pattern of disturbing conduct and criminal activity.

Perkins, aged 30 at the time, was found to have shared a repulsive collection of child abuse images online, which included photographs depicting the rape of young children. Authorities uncovered this evidence during a raid on his home in St Helens on March 18, 2020, after acting on intelligence reports. During the police search, officers seized two Samsung mobile phones belonging to Perkins, both of which contained a significant number of indecent images and videos. The files included 17 Category A images, which are classified as the most severe, showing child rape, along with 17 Category B and 89 Category C files. Additionally, there were two images involving animal pornography.

Further analysis revealed that Perkins used the Kik Messenger app to distribute these illicit files, sharing six Category A, six Category B, and 19 Category C images. One disturbing exchange involved Perkins sending a Category A image, to which another paedophile responded with the comment, “Damn man your stuff is great.” The investigation indicated that the children depicted ranged in age from five to 15 years old, with most between nine and 13. Perkins also searched for terms such as “young baby porn pics,” “very young,” “young porn,” “young feet,” and “teen boy boy,” suggesting a disturbing interest in very young children.

When questioned by authorities, Perkins provided a prepared statement, acknowledging that the devices were his but denying any sexual interest in children. Despite this, he was released under investigation. However, on the early morning of January 2, 2021, police received a distress call from his mother, who reported that Perkins was intoxicated and causing a disturbance at their home. Officers found him in his bedroom, where he was described as “very aggressive” and uncooperative. During the arrest, Perkins kicked an officer in the face, resulting in a bleeding nose. He later claimed during an interview that he had a drinking problem and could not remember the incident.

Perkins was released again under investigation but soon returned to his ex-girlfriend’s residence in St Helens on February 1. She refused him entry, and he responded by banging repeatedly on her front door, causing a glass panel to crack. He later admitted to police that he had been drinking again at that time. His criminal record includes convictions for public disorder, criminal damage, and theft, with previous offenses dating back to 2012 and 2017.

At his sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Gary Woodhall addressed the evidence, including Kik Messenger conversations, which demonstrated Perkins’s full awareness of the nature of the images he shared. The images depicted girls and boys aged five to 15, with Perkins admitting an attraction to young teenagers. The judge emphasized the severity of the case, imposing a five-year restraining order to protect his ex-girlfriend and ordering Perkins to register as a sex offender and adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years. During the sentencing, Perkins shouted from the dock, protesting the sentence and making offensive remarks, including a rant directed at the judge and a bizarre comment directed at his father in the public gallery, revealing his ongoing defiance and disturbed state of mind.
