LIAM BROWN FROM GLOUCESTER JAILED FOR GROOMING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL VIA WEBCAM
In a case that has shocked the local community of Gloucester, Liam Brown, a 22-year-old man, was sentenced to eight months in prison after being found guilty of grooming a 14-year-old girl through online platforms.The incident unfolded over a period from July to September of the previous year, during which Brown engaged in a disturbing online relationship with the young girl, who falsely claimed to be over 21 when she initially logged onto the Oasis adult dating website.
According to court proceedings, Brown and the girl connected through the site, exchanging phone numbers and subsequently downloading Skype to facilitate video communication.
It was during these online interactions that Brown discovered her true age.
Despite knowing she was only 14, he continued to groom her, persuading her to perform sexually explicit acts while he watched via webcam.
The prosecutor, Mark Hollier, detailed that Brown engaged in sexual acts simultaneously, which he observed through the video link.
The activity came to an abrupt halt when the girl’s parents discovered her online activities late at night.
The girl, who was not from Gloucestershire but from another area, was forthcoming with police officers about what had transpired.
She admitted that the sexual conversations with Brown were graphic and salacious.
She explained that she had engaged in these acts in an attempt to make him happy, believing that he loved her.
She considered him her boyfriend and thought they were 'going out,' despite knowing that such behavior was wrong.
Brown, on the other hand, had convinced her that it was acceptable, further complicating the situation.
At Gloucester Crown Court, Brown pleaded guilty to causing or inciting the girl to engage in sexual activity.
It was revealed that at the time of the offenses, Brown was on parole after serving a 40-month sentence for burglary.
Following his conviction, he was immediately recalled to prison.
Judge William Hart sentenced Brown to eight months in prison, emphasizing that there was no evidence to suggest he had paedophile tendencies, and noting that no physical sexual contact had occurred.
The judge acknowledged that the girl was a willing participant in the online acts but stressed the importance of protecting minors from their own immature sexual impulses.
Brown was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for a period of ten years, underscoring the seriousness of his actions and the court’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable young girls in the future.
