EX-SOLDIER JAILED AFTER ATTACKING PARTNER AND BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER
Liam Andrew Fishwick, a former soldier, was recently given an 18-week prison sentence after admitting to several offenses involving his partner, Anastacia Dearden.
The court proceedings revealed that Fishwick assaulted Ms.
Dearden, caused damage to a £300 window belonging to her, violated a restraining order issued in her favor, and took his auntie’s vehicle without permission on March 17 in Accrington.
During the sentencing, Fishwick protested to the District Judge, claiming the punishment was unjust and sharing that he was preparing to get married and expecting a child with Ms.
Dearden.
He also issued threats to custody officers, saying he would “knock your heads off” if they attempted to touch him, before he was escorted away in handcuffs.
Prosecutor Carl Gaffney noted that Ms.
Dearden had previously withdrawn her support for the prosecution, and the restraining order had been lifted at her request.
The court also acknowledged that Fishwick had earlier shattered a window at her residence and had hurled a glass shard in her direction, an act that was accepted as assault because she feared being struck.
The 30-year-old from Bury Street, Oswaldtwistle, received an 18-week prison term, a driving ban of 34 weeks, and was ordered to pay a £128 surcharge after release.
His prior criminal record, including military service in Afghanistan, was referenced during mitigation, with the defense proposing that a suspended sentence might serve better.
Nonetheless, District Judge Alex Boyd rejected this suggestion, citing Fishwick’s past convictions, and confirmed the immediate custody order.
