LEWIE HORGAN SWINDON SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR ASSAULT ON 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN PINEHURST
In a serious case that has shocked the community of Swindon, 22-year-old Lewie Horgan from Tedder Close, Pinehurst, was found guilty and sentenced for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.The incident took place in August 2022 at a residential property in Swindon, where Horgan engaged in inappropriate and illegal conduct towards the young girl.
According to reports, the victim managed to escape from Horgan’s grasp by running to the bathroom, seeking refuge and safety.
While there, she took the brave step of alerting a friend through a social media message, revealing the distressing situation she was experiencing.
This communication prompted immediate action from authorities, leading to police officers being dispatched to the scene to investigate the allegations.
Horgan, who was present at the scene, denied the charge of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15.
Despite his denial, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him after a trial.
The case drew further attention when the victim’s mother shared the emotional toll the assault had taken on her daughter.
She disclosed that her child has since been diagnosed with depression and anorexia, conditions that have severely affected her mental health.
The mother also revealed that her daughter has begun self-harming as a result of the trauma inflicted upon her.
At Swindon Crown Court, Horgan faced sentencing.
While he avoided a prison term, he was given a 36-month community order.
As part of his sentence, he is required to complete 250 hours of unpaid work, participate in a sex offender rehabilitation program, and undertake 20 days of additional rehabilitation activities.
The court also ordered Horgan to pay the victim £5,000 in compensation for the harm caused.
Furthermore, Horgan, who has a prior conviction for possession of a knife in a public place, was subjected to a five-year restraining order that prohibits him from contacting the victim.
He is also mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.
The case highlights the ongoing issues of safeguarding minors and the importance of swift justice in cases of sexual assault within the Swindon community.
