LESLEY WALKER FROM PETERHEAD FACES SERIOUS CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES
In June 2012, a distressing case emerged from Peterhead involving Leslie Walker, a 78-year-old pensioner, who was brought before the court on charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children. The allegations against Walker are particularly troubling, as they reveal a pattern of disturbing behavior over a span of two years.According to court reports, Walker admitted that his actions were driven by what he described as “sexual curiosity.” Over the course of two years, he accumulated more than 300 photographs depicting children. Of these images, 76 were classified as category four, which is just one level below the most severe classification for such material. This classification indicates the images were highly explicit and disturbing in nature.
The investigation into Walker’s activities was initiated after police executed a search warrant at his residence in Peterhead on October 3, 2010. During the raid, authorities seized a computer from his home, which was subsequently found to contain a total of 335 images of children. The digital evidence also included fragments of sexually motivated online chats between adults and minors, further highlighting the disturbing nature of the case.
During the court proceedings, Fiscal Alasdair Fay provided details about the extent of the illegal material. He stated that the images had been shared with other online users on three separate occasions, indicating an element of distribution beyond mere possession. The children depicted in the images ranged in age from as young as one year old to 14 years old, underscoring the severity of the offense.
Witnesses at the court reported seeing a man leaving the courtroom during the hearing, while a woman was observed leaving the premises in tears, reflecting the emotional impact of the case on those involved.
Leslie Walker told police that he had “no recollection” of receiving “that many” photographs, which raises questions about his awareness and intent. Despite this, he was released on bail while undergoing a psychological assessment. The court scheduled his next appearance for July 26, and as part of his bail conditions, he is required to sign the sex offender’s register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and status.
