LESLEY BELCHER FROM WORCESTER CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ABUSE AND FALSE IMPRISONMENT

A man from Worcester, identified as Leslie Belcher, has been found guilty of a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl. The conviction was handed down at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, June 20, following a detailed five-day trial that uncovered the extent of his criminal actions.

According to court proceedings, Belcher, aged 67, committed these offenses over a span of nearly eight years, from November 2012 to July 2020. During this period, he subjected a girl, whose age ranged from six to 13 years old at different times, to repeated acts of sexual assault. The court heard that Belcher’s actions were not isolated incidents but part of a prolonged pattern of abuse that caused significant harm and suffering to the victim.

Belcher, who resides on St Clement’s Close in Worcester, was taken into custody in July 2020 after authorities were alerted to allegations against him. The police investigation was initiated following reports from the victim or those close to her, leading to his subsequent arrest. In February 2021, he was formally charged with multiple offenses, including 10 counts of sexual assault by touching a girl under 13 and one count of false imprisonment. These charges reflect the severity and brutality of his crimes.

Law enforcement officials, including Detective Constable Tracy Ruff of West Mercia Police, publicly praised her courage and resilience.
