LEE ROSIE FROM KIRKCALDY CONVICTED OF SERIOUS SEX OFFENCES IN FIFE

Lee Rosie, a 37-year-old man residing in Kirkcaldy, has been convicted of multiple serious sexual offences committed in the Fife region. The court proceedings, held at the High Court in Edinburgh, revealed disturbing details about his criminal history and recent convictions. Judge Robert Weir QC emphasized the gravity of Rosie’s actions, stating, “The offences of which you have been convicted are plainly very serious.” As a result of his crimes, Rosie has been placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, signifying the court’s recognition of the ongoing risk he poses to the community.

Rosie, who is also known by the name Leigh Rosie, was found guilty of indecent assault and rape involving two separate women. His first victim, a 30-year-old woman, was assaulted at a house in Kelty sometime between August and November 2010. The court heard that Rosie indecently assaulted her while she was asleep and under the influence of alcohol, which rendered her unable to give or withhold consent. The assault was characterized by the court as a serious breach of her personal safety and trust.

His second conviction involved a 27-year-old woman at an address near Dunfermline on August 12, 2017. Similar to the first case, the victim was asleep and intoxicated, which prevented her from consenting to the sexual acts. Rosie was convicted of both assault and rape in this incident, further underscoring the severity of his criminal behavior. The court was informed that in both cases, there was no injury inflicted, and the incidents appeared to be relatively brief, according to defence counsel Drew McKenzie.

During the proceedings, Mr. McKenzie highlighted that despite Rosie’s previous convictions, he has not previously served a jail sentence. The defence argued that the incidents, while serious, did not involve prolonged or violent assault, and no physical injuries were sustained by the victims. Nonetheless, the court recognized the seriousness of the offences and the need for ongoing supervision and monitoring.

Rosie’s criminal record includes prior convictions, but his recent convictions mark a significant escalation in the severity of his offences. The court’s decision to impose an indefinite registration on the sex offenders’ register reflects the ongoing concern for public safety and the potential risk Rosie continues to pose.
