WASHINGTON MAN SENTENCED TO OVER FIVE YEARS FOR KIDNAPPING AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
Lee McFarling, a man from Washington, has been jailed after he imprisoned and attacked a woman in his home.
The 40-year-old enticed the woman into his property and kept her confined for five days, during which he assaulted her physically, including pouring beer on her to prevent her from sleeping.
On the fifth day, he committed multiple sexual assaults.
The woman, frightened, was able to notify the police, which led to McFarling’s detention.
He was charged with multiple offenses such as assault causing actual bodily harm, false imprisonment, sexual assault, and making threats to kill.
During the hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, McFarling pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to serve five years and four months in prison, with an additional 20 months on license upon release.
He is also required to register as a sex offender for life and is subject to a lifelong restraining order to ensure the victim’s safety.
Detective Constable Hayley Mcintosh called him a dangerous predator and noted her satisfaction that he is now behind bars, underlining her support for the victim.
The case highlights the importance of support services for victims of sexual violence, emphasizing the ongoing need for protective measures.
