LEE HAYNES FROM LLANDYSUL FACES SERIOUS CHILD SEX OFFENCE CHARGES IN SWANSEA CROWN COURT
In a significant legal development, Lee Haynes, a resident of Llandysul, appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre in March 2019 to face charges related to child sexual offences. The proceedings revealed that Haynes admitted to possessing a substantial number of indecent images of children and engaging in inappropriate communication with a minor for sexual gratification.Specifically, the 53-year-old man pleaded guilty to intentionally communicating with a person under the age of 16, during which he suggested sexual acts, thereby making the communication sexual in nature. This admission underscores the severity of the allegations and the criminal intent behind his actions.
Furthermore, Haynes confessed to possessing a large collection of indecent images of children, which he accumulated between April 9 and September 26 of the previous year. The images and videos he possessed were categorized into different levels of severity: 33 still images and three movies classified as Category A, which is considered the most serious; 25 still images and five movies categorized as Category B; and 125 still images falling under Category C, the least severe but still illegal.
Following his guilty plea, magistrates decided to remand Haynes on unconditional bail, allowing him to remain free until his sentencing. The case was subsequently transferred to Swansea Crown Court, where he was scheduled to be sentenced on April 18. Additionally, Haynes was placed on the sex offenders’ register starting from March 20, with the duration of this registration to be determined once the case concludes.
These proceedings highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat child exploitation and ensure that individuals involved in such crimes are held accountable. The case against Lee Haynes remains a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable minors from harm.
