ALEXANDER & VICTORIA GRICE SHOCKING ANIMAL CRUELTY CASE IN LLANDYSUL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Llandysul, Alexander Kyle Grice, born around 1966, and his sister Victoria Louisa Kyle Grice, born approximately in 1968, both faced serious allegations of animal cruelty. Residing at Llwyncelyn, Glanarthan, within the postcode SA44 6PL, the siblings were brought to justice following a comprehensive two-day trial held in September 2017.

These charges, brought forward by the RSPCA, detailed a series of heinous acts involving the neglect and suffering of multiple animals, including dogs, a rabbit, and a guinea pig. Both Alexander and Victoria initially denied all accusations, but the court found them guilty on a total of twelve counts of animal cruelty, highlighting the severity and extent of their alleged misconduct.

Among the most egregious offenses was their failure to protect a basset hound named Bertie from pain, suffering, and disease. Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Bertie was severely underweight, in poor health, and living in an environment that was clearly unsuitable for a living creature. The neglect was evident and contributed to the conviction.

The siblings were also convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to a bichon frise dog named Bella. Bella was found to be underweight and suffering from multiple health issues, including severe dental disease, skin conditions, mammary tumors, and an ear infection. The court noted that the neglect and failure to seek appropriate veterinary care had significantly contributed to her suffering.

Further charges included their failure to treat various health issues in other dogs, such as flea infestations, skin infections, eye infections, and ear infections, all of which caused additional unnecessary suffering. The cruelty extended beyond dogs, as they were also found responsible for neglecting a rabbit and a guinea pig, animals that also endured suffering due to their owners’ neglect.

Regarding sentencing, Alexander Grice was initially given a community order but failed to comply with its terms. As a result, in June 2018, he was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail. Victoria Grice’s community order was later revoked on health grounds, and both siblings were ordered to pay costs and charges amounting to £585 each. Additionally, they received a three-year ban on keeping animals, a restriction that expired in 2020.

This case has brought to light the ongoing issue of animal cruelty in the Llandysul area and underscores the importance of animal welfare enforcement by authorities and organizations like the RSPCA. The community continues to respond with concern and calls for stricter measures to prevent such cases from recurring in the future.
