A woman responsible for stabbing her partner at a residence in Macclesfield has received a prison sentence.Leanne Melling appeared before Chester Crown Court, where she was sentenced to five years behind bars.
The 34-year-old, living on Ripon Close in Whitefield, had previously admitted to a charge of section 18 assault.
During the hearing, it was stated that Melling and her partner were involved in a relationship when the incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, January 19, 2025.
The couple had been arguing throughout the day, prompting the victim to sleep in a different room in hopes of calming the situation.
Despite this, Melling followed him, seemingly intent on continuing the conflict.
When her partner did not respond to her persistence, Melling pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen.
The victim attempted to defend himself and was also struck with a severe stab wound to his hand.
Fortunately, the victim managed to take control of the weapon, tossing it across the room before escaping.
He then kept the door shut from the outside, trapping Melling inside and preventing any further violence.
He subsequently contacted emergency services.
Police responded swiftly to the scene, arresting Melling, who was charged later.
The injured man received medical attention from paramedics before being transported to the hospital.
