KYRAN HENDERSON INVERKEITHING DOMESTIC ABUSE SCANDAL: VICTIMS AND DOGS ENDURE HORRORS

A man from Inverkeithing has been found guilty by a jury of multiple historic domestic abuse offences spanning over several years in Fife, including violent assaults on a pregnant woman and cruelty towards her pets. Kyran Henderson, aged 33, faced trial at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court last week, where the court heard disturbing details of his violent history.

Jurors unanimously convicted Henderson on four charges and he admitted guilt to a fifth offence. The court established that over a decade ago, Henderson physically assaulted a pregnant partner, notably attacking her with boxing gloves during an incident. The abuse extended beyond physical violence, as Henderson was also found to have deliberately restricted her food intake and cruelly thrown her dog against a wall, causing unnecessary suffering.

The court proceedings revealed that Henderson's abusive behaviour towards the first woman occurred at multiple addresses, including in Kinghorn and Uddingston, Lanarkshire, between April 2010 and March 2011. During this period, the victim was pregnant, and Henderson's violence was both severe and varied. He struck her repeatedly on the head and body, kicked her, and physically seized her, often using threatening gestures such as brandishing a knife and making threats to harm her with it. At one point, he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her, demonstrating a pattern of controlling and aggressive conduct.

Further evidence showed that Henderson assaulted her with boxing gloves on multiple occasions, spat on her, and even constricted her throat, restricting her breathing while she was holding an infant. These violent acts left the woman injured and traumatized. The jury also found that Henderson engaged in threatening and abusive behaviour, including making derogatory remarks and controlling her food portions during the same period. Additionally, he was convicted of throwing her dog against a wall, an act of cruelty that added to the severity of his offences.

Henderson's pattern of violence extended to a second woman, whom he targeted between July 2017 and January 2018. The court heard that he behaved in a threatening manner at a residence in Kirkcaldy, where he punched walls and pushed her dog. During this time, he assaulted her on multiple occasions, seizing her by the throat, constricting her breathing, and threatening to kill her. His violent conduct was persistent and alarming, demonstrating a clear pattern of intimidation and physical abuse.

On April 15, 2021, Henderson pled guilty to a fifth charge of acting in a threatening or abusive manner. The incident involved shouting at a third former partner and attempting to follow her into a property in Methil, where she was seeking refuge from him. The court has deferred sentencing until April 8, pending reports, and Henderson’s bail has been continued as the legal process proceeds.
