KYLE STEPHENSON SENTENCED IN YORK FOR HORRIFIC CRIMES INVOLVING FILEY VICTIMS
A former resident of Filey who committed a series of disturbing crimes has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.Kyle Stephenson, aged 29 and currently without a fixed address, was sentenced at York Crown Court on Friday following what a detective described as one of the most "harrowing and disturbing" cases he has encountered.
Police officers characterized Stephenson as "vile and manipulative." He was originally scheduled to stand trial this week but opted to plead guilty to charges involving the exploitation of a boy and a girl.
Additionally, he admitted to bestiality after authorities recovered conclusive video evidence of his abuse.
The judge considered the bestiality offence as an aggravating factor when delivering the sentence.
Stephenson was also handed a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be registered on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
He is additionally required to serve an extra year on licence.
Stephenson’s arrest occurred on 31 January 2021, following a complaint from the boy involved.
He has remained in custody since being charged.
The offences took place between then and January 2020.
The dog involved in Stephenson's abuse has since died from an illness.
Detective Constable Steve Monty of Scarborough CID, who led the investigation, commented: "Stephenson is now facing the consequences of his depraved actions.
This is one of the most harrowing and disturbing cases I have been involved in.
My heart goes out to the brave young victims who have endured immense trauma caused by this vile and manipulative man." He added, "Their true courage, together with support from loved ones, will hopefully give them the strength to rebuild their lives and move forward from this dreadful experience."
