KYLE ALLAN'S HORRIFIC ATTACK IN ABERDEEN COVE: A NIGHT OF TERROR AND VIOLENCE

A brutal assault unfolded in the quiet residential area of Cove, Aberdeen, when a woman was subjected to a terrifying and violent attack by a stranger named Kyle Allan. The incident took place during a time when her partner was away working offshore, leaving her alone at home with her young son peacefully sleeping.

On June 10 this year, Allan, aged 31, forcefully entered her residence and committed acts of extreme violence that would leave lasting scars. The court heard that Allan's assault involved throttling the woman until she lost consciousness, a horrifying act that demonstrated the severity of his aggression. During this ordeal, he physically assaulted her in multiple ways, including stamping on her head and neck, striking her with significant force, and forcibly removing her clothing, causing her severe injuries.

Adding to the horror, Allan issued threats to kill her and her children, heightening the sense of danger and fear. Ultimately, he raped her, an act that inflicted further injury and posed a serious threat to her life. The judge, Lord Ericht, described the attack as one of extreme violence, emphasizing the brutality involved. He stated, “You subjected her to a terrifying ordeal, grabbing her throat until she was unconscious and raping her. She pleaded with you to stop and fought back bravely. You struck her head against a door and pushed her to the ground. You threatened to kill her and her children. This was a random attack involving extreme violence.”

Allan was convicted of these heinous crimes and sentenced to eight years in prison. He is currently detained at HMP Grampian in Peterhead. During the court proceedings, Allan admitted to the assault and rape, acknowledging his actions but noting that he had consumed a significant amount of alcohol at the time. His legal representation clarified that Allan did not blame alcohol for his conduct.

The court also ordered Allan to be registered on the sex offenders register for life, reflecting the gravity of his crimes. Detective Inspector Mark Lambley described Allan as an “extremely dangerous individual” and praised the victim for her resilience and bravery throughout the investigation. Police continue to encourage victims of such crimes to come forward, emphasizing the importance of justice and ongoing support.

At the High Court in Dundee, Lord Ericht delivered the sentence, which reflected the seriousness of the offense. Allan pled guilty to charges of rape resulting in severe injury and danger to life, under section 76 of the relevant legislation. The judge took into account the criminal justice social work report, which assessed Allan as posing a medium or moderate risk. He noted that Allan’s only prior conviction was for a minor assault and that his early plea of guilty warranted a reduction in the sentence.

In his sentencing remarks, Lord Ericht highlighted the randomness and brutality of the attack. He recounted how Allan entered a stranger’s home, where her partner was away offshore, and her children were asleep or out. Allan’s actions included grabbing her throat until she lost consciousness, raping her, and pushing her towards the door, causing her to hit her head. The judge described the attack as “a night of terror involving extreme violence.”

The victim’s bravery was commended, as was her son’s response to her distress and the support from her friends who arrived at the scene. The victim impact statement detailed the devastating effects of Allan’s actions on her and her family.

Had Allan not pleaded guilty early, the court would have sentenced him to 12 years in prison. However, considering his cooperation, the sentence was reduced to eight years, backdated to June 13, 2023. Additionally, Allan will be subject to indefinite notification requirements, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct as a sex offender.
