SWANSEA MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR VIOLENT ABUSE OF PARTNER
A man who repeatedly assaulted his partner throughout their relationship, including two instances while abroad on holiday, has been sentenced in court.Kyle Astill was found guilty of multiple attacks, during which he punched and bit his partner, after which he would offer her flowers and apologies.
The Swansea Crown Court heard that the victim found it heartbreaking to go to work after each incident, often having to justify bruises, cuts, and bite marks.
She described how she was once an outgoing person but lost her vitality due to the abuse.
The judge characterized Astill as acting like an animal and a vile individual, showing a complete lack of respect, and tried to blame the victim by claiming her side of the relationship was toxic.
Astill had previously admitted to six counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and two counts of criminal damage.
His prior convictions, including non-domestic ABH, were also considered.
He received a sentence of three years and nine months in prison, along with a six-year restraining order preventing contact with the victim.
The court recounted various incidents, including an attack in Greece where he punched and bit her, as well as assaults tied to cocaine use, strangulation in Thailand, and multiple other episodes during their relationship.
The victim provided a statement detailing how she lost her spark and how it was emotionally devastating to explain her injuries at work.
According to his lawyer, Astill behaved respectfully when sober but was aggressive under the influence.
The judge highlighted the importance of safeguarding the public and stated that Astill must learn to behave like a decent person before rejoining society.
