LODGER JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER MURDERING LANDLORD’S FAMILY IN FLINT
A 27-year-old man named Krystian Rozek has been sentenced to life imprisonment after admitting to the murders of his landlady, Monika Wasko, and her 11-year-old son Patrick at their residence in Flintshire. The court ruled that Rozek must serve a minimum of 27 years before being eligible for parole.
He received two life sentences—one for stabbing Mrs.
Wasko and another for killing Patrick.
Rozek had previously denied charges of attempted murder for Mr.
Wasko, with that case being left on file.
All the involved individuals were originally from Poland.
At the time of the incident, Rozek was living with the Wasko family at Cae Hir, Flint.
Evidence showed that Rozek’s violent outburst was fueled by discovering his wife in Poland had been unfaithful.
His anger resulted in him attacking the family that had shown him kindness, causing the tragic deaths in July.
During the attack, Rozek tasked Mrs.
Wasko with stabbing her multiple times, and her son Patrick died after being rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
The incident followed Rozek’s decision to return to Poland after a period of heavy drinking and a brief argument with Mr.
Wasko on the same night.
The court described Rozek’s actions as a tragic turn from kindness to fury, highlighting the devastating consequences for the family and the wider community.
Detective Superintendent Stephen Gould, overseeing the investigation, called the attack ‘particularly horrific and senseless,’ emphasizing the innocence of the victims.
Rozek’s motives remain unclear, as he struggled to provide a reasonable explanation during interviews.
Family liaison work continues with Rafal Wasko and his son in Poland.
