WALLSEND MAN SENTENCED FOR THREATENING TO STAB EX-PARTNER
A Wallsend man threatened to stab his ex-partner in her sleep during a barrage of abusive messages.Kristian White left the woman terrified after leaving a number of threatening voicemails and emails following their breakup.The 29-year-old threatened to stab his ex-partner and her children in one message and later said that he would "strangle" the life out of her.
White also left a "revolting" message regarding her genitals.On Thursday, White, of Wallsend, appeared at Newcastle Moot Hall to be sentenced for putting a person in fear of violence by harassment.
He had pleaded guilty to the offence.The court heard that on January 18 this year, police were called to the woman's home after White had turned up uninvited.
Shada Mellor, the prosecutor, explained: "He had made threats towards her and her children.
She also received abusive messages on email and TikTok.""He made a threat to stab her and her children and [said] that he would attend her address while she slept and stab her." The woman blocked White's number before receiving two voicemails from him on an unknown number.Ms Mellor said: "He said, 'I will strangle the life out of you' and 'you best ring police, I'm coming to do you good and proper'." He called her abusive names like "rat" and "tramp" before leaving a "revolting" message about her genitals.
The court heard White had 21 previous convictions for 55 offences, including for criminal damage and driving matters.Mark Harrison, defending, stated that the couple had been in an eight-month relationship which ended when White began abusing alcohol.
He said: "The defendant had remained abstinent from alcohol for a number of months, but foolishly when with his father over New Year, he was persuaded to drink alcohol.""The effect of alcohol upon him and the struggle to mediate caused this relationship very quickly to deteriorate.
The worst of the behaviour was at arms length.
He regrets bitterly spoiling this relationship."Recorder Felicity Davies sentenced White to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to undertake 40 rehabilitation days.
A six-month mental health treatment requirement and 120 days of alcohol monitoring were also imposed.
