KIERAN BUNDAY CONVICTED OF SHOCKING SEX OFFENCES IN NEW FOREST AND BOURNEMOUTH
A man identified as Kieran Bunday has been sentenced after being convicted of a disturbing and lengthy series of sexual offences involving a young schoolboy. The serious allegations and subsequent court proceedings took place in Bournemouth Crown Court, with the victim demonstrating remarkable courage in finally coming forward.According to court records, Bunday, aged 24, posed a significant threat to his young victim, employing intimidation tactics to silence him. The court heard that Bunday threatened to kill the boy if he ever revealed the abuse to anyone. Investigators established that Bunday also threatened the boy with an air rifle, a weapon he used during the assault. During the incident, Bunday pinned the child against a wall and threatened him with a knife, heightening the terrifying nature of his actions.
The court was told that Bunday’s abuse extended over several years, during which he subjected the victim to repeated physical assaults, including multiple punches. This sustained campaign of abuse was characterized by an atmosphere of fear and coercion, which deeply traumatized the young boy. The investigation revealed that Bunday’s offending took place in the Bournemouth area, although he is a resident of Forester Road, Blackfield, located within the New Forest district.
The legal proceedings resulted in Bunday being found guilty on multiple counts: four charges of rape, two counts of sexual assault, two charges of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one count of indecency with a child. The jury was presented with evidence illustrating the profound impact that the prolonged abuse had on the victim. The young boy, who cannot be named publicly due to legal restrictions, was shown to suffer from depression, recurring nightmares, and engaged in self-harming behaviors as a result of his trauma.
During the trial, prosecutor Simon Jones emphasized the severity of the case, highlighting how the victim’s courage in finally confiding in his mother last year led to the arrest and police interview of Bunday. This breakthrough was crucial in establishing the extent of the offending and securing justice.
Delivering the sentence, Judge Samuel Wiggs described Bunday’s crimes as profoundly damaging, and he sentenced him to three years in prison. As part of his sentence, Bunday was also made a registered sex offender, ensuring ongoing supervision and monitoring of his conduct following his release.
