KEVIN TURNER FROM CARDIGAN AND SWANSEA SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN SWANSEA
In a harrowing case that has shocked the communities of Cardigan, Swansea, and surrounding areas, Kevin Turner has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of a series of heinous sexual crimes involving a young girl. The offences span over a four-year period during which Turner subjected the victim to repeated abuse, leaving a trail of trauma and suffering.Kevin John Turner, aged 53, was convicted on multiple counts including eight counts of rape, three counts of sexual activity with a child, four counts of sexual assault, and possession of indecent images of a child. The crimes came to light after a detailed investigation and a five-day trial held at Swansea Crown Court. Despite his denial of the charges, the jury found Turner guilty on all counts, leading to a significant custodial sentence.
At the time of the offences, Turner was residing in Ceredigion, but he is now based in Felindre, Swansea. The court heard that the abuse took place while he was living in the Ceredigion area, specifically in the vicinity of Tremain near Cardigan. The judge, Geraint Walters, handed down a sentence of 20 years in prison, with a minimum term of 13 years and six months to be served before eligibility for parole. Additionally, Turner will be required to register as a sex offender for life, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
Earlier in April 2017, Turner, also known as a man obsessed with young girls, was convicted of raping a girl under the age of 16. The trial at Swansea Crown Court revealed that Turner, who had already admitted to possessing 355 indecent images of children, had denied the rape allegations but admitted to having sex with the girl, claiming it was consensual. The jury, however, unanimously found him guilty of the rape charges.
During the proceedings, the prosecution, led by Catherine Richards, highlighted Turner's apparent enjoyment in recounting details of his sexual encounters with the young girl, which added to the gravity of the case. Turner also admitted to giving the girl 'poppers' before engaging in sexual activity, further illustrating the disturbing nature of his actions.
Following the verdict, Turner was remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing on May 8. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the serious nature of the offences and the impact on the victim, as well as the broader implications for child protection in the region.
