KEVIN STUART MCLAREN'S BRUTAL CRIMES IN PERTH: A LIFE OF ABUSE AND VIOLENCE REVEALED

Kevin Stuart McLaren, a 38-year-old man residing on Grampian Court, Crieff Road, Perth, has been sentenced to four years in prison after a jury found him guilty of multiple charges related to severe abuse and violence directed at two women during their relationships with him.

Throughout the court proceedings at Perth Sheriff Court, it was detailed that McLaren subjected both women to relentless physical and emotional torment, causing them significant psychological harm. The court heard harrowing accounts of his violent actions, which included attacking one woman twice while she was pregnant with his child, and knocking another woman unconscious during a separate assault.

In addition to these assaults, McLaren inflicted injuries so severe that they endangered the lives of both women. His brutality extended beyond human victims, as he also mistreated pets belonging to the women. Evidence presented in court revealed that he hurled a cat against a wall and struck a dog, using these acts as a means to exert control and keep the women subjugated.

The jury found McLaren guilty of a series of nine charges, which included multiple assaults at different locations in Perth and Comrie. Specifically, he was convicted of assaulting the first woman four times at a Perth flat between April 17, 2005, and April 1, 2006. During these incidents, he was accused of grabbing her by the throat, pushing her into a doorframe, spitting in her face, and locking her in a bedroom during the first attack. The second assault involved pinning her on a couch and repeatedly punching her.

Further, the court heard that during the third and fourth assaults, which also took place at the same Perth flat, the woman was pregnant. During the fourth attack, McLaren threw a cat against a wall. The jury also found him guilty of two additional assaults on the same woman at another Perth address between October 1, 2006, and August 8, 2007.

Regarding the second woman, McLaren was convicted of assaulting her twice in Comrie, between December 26, 2018, and March 31, 2019. The court detailed that during the first of these assaults, he seized her by the neck, pushed her onto a sofa, squeezed her neck, and then pulled her, causing her to hit her head against a wall and lose consciousness. The second assault involved him throwing plates and knives at her and hitting her with a plate.

In addition to the prison sentence, Sheriff Wood ordered that McLaren remain under licence for a further three years after his release. A lifelong non-harassment order was also imposed, explicitly prohibiting him from contacting or approaching the two women for the rest of his life, in an effort to protect them from further harm.
