WHITTLESEY THUG KEVIN OLIVER ATTACKED EX-PARTNER WITH A HAMMER
A man convicted of assaulting his former partner and threatening her with a hammer has been sentenced to prison.
Kevin Oliver, aged 36, forcibly entered the victim’s residence in Whittlesey around midnight on April 20 and accused her of communicating with another man.
He then issued threats to set her on fire and demanded her mobile phone.
Out of fear for her safety, the woman fled to the rear of the house, but Oliver prevented her from escaping and forcefully brought her to the ground.
Attempting to reach the front exit, she was once again obstructed by Oliver, who had also taken a hammer from the kitchen.
He pushed her against the stairs, restrained her, and warned he would harm her if she refused to surrender her phone.
Fearing for her life, she handed over her phone shortly before police arrived and took Oliver into custody.
At Huntingdon Law Courts on Thursday, September 25, Oliver, from Coronation Avenue, Whittlesey, received a 33-month prison sentence after admitting to actual bodily harm and activating a suspended sentence.
An indefinite restraining order was also issued against him.
DC Lydia Halliday, who led the investigation, commented: “Oliver’s reprehensible assault left the victim utterly terrified, so it’s positive to see justice served.”
