KEVIN MYSON FROM CAMBRIDGE SENTENCED FOR SEVEN-YEAR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE SPREE

In a case that has shocked the community of Cambridge, Kevin Myson, a 45-year-old man, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of sexually abusing four children over a period spanning from 1998 to 2005. The disturbing case came to light following allegations made by the victims, which prompted a police investigation that ultimately led to Myson's arrest in October 2016.

Myson, who resided at The Homing in Cambridge, faced a total of 17 charges, including 13 counts of indecent assault of a child, one charge of indecency with a child, one count of rape of a child, and two counts of attempted rape of a child. Throughout the trial, he maintained his innocence, denying all charges. However, after a two-week trial at Peterborough Crown Court, the jury found him not guilty of the rape of a child and one of the indecent assault charges. Nevertheless, he was convicted on the remaining 15 counts, marking a significant legal victory for the victims and the justice system.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Myson had deliberately targeted and befriended families with young children, exploiting these relationships as a means to carry out his abusive acts. The court heard how he manipulated trust within these families to commit his crimes over a prolonged period, which spanned nearly a decade. The victims, who showed remarkable bravery in coming forward, provided testimony that detailed the extent of Myson’s predatory behavior.

His Honour Judge Bridge, presiding over the case, commended each of the victims for their courage and resilience in facing their abuser. The judge described Kevin Myson as a “predatory and opportunist paedophile,” emphasizing the calculated nature of his actions and the danger he posed to children.

In sentencing, the court handed down a 20-year prison term to Myson, along with an extended license period of eight years. Additionally, he was ordered to comply with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will be registered on the Sex Offenders Register for life. The sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and the ongoing threat he poses to the community of Cambridge.
