LIVERPOOL MAN RECEIVES LIFE FOR FRENZIED MURDER OF PARTNER
A man who stabbed his partner to death before phoning a friend to confess to the murder, has been jailed for life.
Sharon Winters, 39, was found at a house on County Road, Walton, Liverpool, on 14 July.
She had been stabbed repeatedly in a "frenzied" attack by her partner, Kevin Hawke.
Hawke, 33, of no fixed address, was handed a life sentence at Liverpool Crown Court and must serve a minimum of 17 years.
The court heard police were called after Hawke rang a friend and admitted the stabbing.
After the sentence, Geoffrey Fryar, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Hawke carried out a horrific and frenzied attack whilst in drink on a vulnerable victim.
"He only realised the terrible reality of his actions after his victim was dead." "Hawke has now shown remorse but this will be of no comfort to Ms Winters' family and friends."
