KEVIN ASHTON FROM BASELIDON ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AT EASTGATE CENTRE
Law enforcement officials responded promptly to an incident at the Eastgate Centre in Basildon on the morning of Thursday, 15 August.The call came around 11 a.m.
after witnesses reported that a man had inappropriately touched a woman’s bottom, causing concern and alarm among shoppers and staff present at the busy shopping complex.
Within just 45 minutes of receiving the report, police officers managed to locate and arrest a suspect in the vicinity of the Eastgate Centre.
The swift response was part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and uphold the law within the community.
The individual taken into custody was identified as Kevin Ashton, aged 68, a resident of Great Oxcroft in Basildon.
Following the arrest, Ashton was formally charged with two counts of sexual assault on a female.
The charges reflect the seriousness of the incident and the police’s commitment to addressing sexual misconduct.
Kevin Ashton is scheduled to appear before Southend Magistrates Court on 13 September to face the charges.
