2008: WOMAN JAILED FOR ATTACK ON BABY
A woman responsible for causing brain and head injuries to an eight-month-old baby during an assault has received a prison sentence of two years and eight months.Kerensa Bradburn, aged 35 and residing on Rugby Road in Leigh, pleaded guilty to charges including grievous bodily harm, child cruelty, and perverting the course of justice during a prior court hearing.
Her sentencing took place yesterday at Liverpool Crown Court.
The infant was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary after the attack on September 24 of the previous year, where medical examinations revealed inflicted brain and head injuries.
Initially, Bradburn denied any involvement in the incident and claimed she had been assaulted and raped, but she later retracted these false assertions.
DC Joanne Kirkman commented, “During the investigation, Bradburn repeatedly lied to authorities until she was eventually compelled to admit her actions.
I am glad justice has been served.”
