GRANDAD JAILED FOR SECRETLY FILMING WOMEN WITH HIDDEN CAMERAS
An upskirting granddad who placed hidden cameras on his shoelaces to take hundreds of images and videos of women has been jailed.Kenneth Bischoff, 66, also secretly filmed couples as part of a fetish which saw 704 photos and videos seized by police dating back to 2016.Ipswich Crown Court heard the content was taken by cameras mounted onto Bischoff's shoes and targeted victims who 'trusted' him.Bischoff, known as 'good old Ken', was arrested in 2022 when a couple noticed him filming them through their hotel window and reported him to police.A search of his address found a device with 37 covert sex videos and Bischoff, of Colchester, Essex, later admitted one charge of voyeurism.Bischoff was given a suspended sentence last year but another search revealed more hard drives and numerous cameras.Judge David Wilson told Bischoff the "scale, duration, and catalogue" of his offending meant only an immediate prison term was appropriate.
He was jailed for eight months this week.George Penny, prosecuting, said many of Bischoff's victims trusted the defendant and had known him for a considerable period of time.The court previously heard Bischoff had targeted women by "placing a camera on his shoes or shoelaces and placing the shoe under the dresses of those females".One woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, attended court to read out a victim impact statement which read: "The discovery that he was covertly filming under my clothing has left me shocked, sickened, and violated.
The trust I put him in has been abused to an enormous degree.
On viewing the footage he has recorded, I was horrified and repulsed."A statement from another victim said Bischoff was regarded "almost as a grandfather figure" and was known as "good old Ken".Mr Penny continued: "The images were taken on cameras mounted primarily to Bischoff's shoes, although some were taken through the windows of hotels using other cameras and equipment seized from his property when he was arrested."In addition to the single charge of voyeurism, Bischoff, of Broadlands Way, Colchester, admitted five counts of recording an image under clothing to observe another without consent.Elliott Moulster, mitigating, said Bischoff was "incredibly sorry for his actions", adding "he knows he can't make it up to them and will never do anything like this again".
He also noted Bischoff, who is a husband, father, and grandfather, received a caution for voyeurism in the early 2000s but began filming people with their permission in 2016 as part of the swingers scene.Judge Wilson stated Bischoff's offences were "a gross betrayal of trust".
He was sentenced to eight months in prison and an indefinite restraining order was issued to prevent contact with victims.
Bischoff will also be a registered sex offender for 10 years.
