KELVIN LONGLEY FROM COUILLARD PORTLAND JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF SCHOOLGIRL
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Kelvin Longley, a resident of Couillard in Portland, has been sentenced to prison for the sexual abuse of a young girl. The incident, which took place several years ago, has left lasting scars on the victim, who is now an adult.According to court proceedings held at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Longley-Couillard, aged 39, was found guilty of multiple charges related to his inappropriate conduct towards the schoolgirl. The court heard that he had touched and kissed the young victim in a manner that was both unlawful and deeply disturbing. The abuse was described as historic, but its effects have persisted into the present, significantly impacting the victim’s mental health.
Prosecutor Antony Longworth detailed that the victim did not initially report the abuse at the time it occurred. Instead, she waited several years before coming forward, eventually reporting the incident to the police in 2018. Her decision to speak out was a crucial step in bringing Longley-Couillard to justice.
The court was presented with a harrowing statement from the victim, who described the profound psychological toll the abuse had taken on her. She revealed that she now suffers from panic attacks, night terrors, blackouts, and heart palpitations. Her testimony underscored the long-term trauma inflicted by Longley-Couillard’s actions.
Expressing her concerns, the victim explained how her experiences have affected her daily life and her approach to parenting. She stated, “I do not feel comfortable being alone with men. I believe it has impacted on how I raise my daughter. I would not let her have sleepovers. I regularly check her phone to make sure she is safe.”
Kelvin Longley-Couillard, who resides on Vindelis Way in Portland, Dorset, pleaded guilty to two charges of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and two charges of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13. His guilty plea was accepted by the court, which subsequently handed down a sentence of four years in prison.
In addition to his imprisonment, the judge ordered Longley-Couillard to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life. He was also subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order that prohibits any contact with the victim. These measures are intended to protect the victim and prevent any further harm from the convicted individual.
