GILLINGHAM DAD WHO BOMBARDED EX WITH MESSAGES AFTER SPLIT TO BE SENTENCED FOR HARASSMENT
A dad-of-one who couldn’t accept the relationship with the mother of his child was over, bombarded her with messages and emails after they split.Kelvin Garlinge, from Medway, sent unwanted messages to the woman for almost a year after their relationship ended.
However, the woman was so fed up with his actions that she contacted the police and her former partner was later charged with harassment without violence.
A court heard the 33-year-old harassed the woman, between February 14 last year and January 10 this year, by sending her numerous unwanted messages and emails, even after she blocked him.
Garlinge, of Allington Road, Gillingham, appeared in the dock at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (August 5), where he admitted the offence.
James Nichols, prosecuting, said: “He was in a relationship with the woman for nine years, but they split up in 2023 and they have one child.
The complainant has had unwanted contact since the break-up and the offence is in a domestic setting.” Magistrates decided to order a pre-sentencing report before they could sentence Garlinge.
He was given bail conditions until he hears his fate of not contacting the woman, or going near her address in Faversham.
Garlinge will return to the same court on October 10 to be sentenced.
